All our teams had good wins over the weekend.
Division one got home over Gumeracha by five points thanks to a twenty four shot win by Christine Keller’s rink. Bill Fairley’s rink had a close tussle all day with the result not known until the last end. Phil Nagel’s rink met an opposition that was “red hot” and went down by seventeen shots. The team remains in third position and meets eighth ranked Lenswood at Lenswood.
Division two completed the double by a comfortable nineteen shot win at Gumeracha. Greens were fast and wide which made for some difficult conditions. Carolyne Edwardes’s rink had a great win by eighteen shots whilst Barry Rimmer’s rink had an interesting tussle by getting good breaks early and after the break only to see the opposition claw their way back. Scott Brook’s rink started slowly and got ahead only to go down by one shot on the last few ends.
The team sits in third place and meets tenth placed Lenswood next week.
Division four continued on their winning way defeating Meadows at Meadows by a whopping thirty seven shots. Jim Howe’s rink had a good win by fourteen shots whilst Ron Bateman, who lost the first end, led 21 – 1 before the opposition again won the mat. Greens were running at 11 before the sun came out and sped up to 12. Reports had the Jim played some excellent conversion shots and new player Alby Gluyas had a great start to his bowls career.
The team sits on top of the ladder and plays Lobethal (2nd) at Woodside next week.
