Winners are grinners!!! A treble.

Our Division 4 team made it “back-to-back-to-back” titles with a strong win over Lobethal at Woodside.  Played in cool but comfortable conditions, both rinks started slowly with Lobethal holding sway early.  Tom’s rink of Brian Buckingham, Pat Wakefield, Allen McMahon gradually got on top and with a seven shot end (measured for an eight) broke away and were never headed.

L-R: Back row: Big Hoffmann, Ken Wilson, Jennie Benham, Allan McMahon, Tom Hennessey
Front Row: Brian Buckingham, Pat Wakefield, Ron Batman, Barbara Shields.

All players played their part when needed.  The last end started with Brian bowling a toucher and followed it up with one six inches away and the game was sealed from there.

Ron’s rink of Jennie Benham, Ken Wilson, Barbara Shields were up against strong opposition and were struggling to stay in touch through twelve ends.  However a five shot end changed the complexion of the game and slowly they edged there way back to level the scores with four ends to play.

Another five put them in front by four shots for the first time and held on to win by a solitary shot. It was a consistent effort throughout with Jennie, Ken and Barbara working their way back into the game to give Ron a head that held shot/s at the changeover.

Ron provided a wonderful gesture in handing his Pennant Pin to “Big” who had not missed a game until the Grand Final and had one spot left to complete his hat band.

It was great to see so many club supporters cheering the team on.  Captain Ron has asked that he and the team really appreciated their support and cheering.

Scores were:
