VALE “BIG”

Members are advised that it is with regret that former Club member Ray Hoffmann, known it us as “BIG” recently passed away.  Uncle to Carolyne Edwardes, “Big” was born in Renmark in 1925, played football, cricket, boxing, snooker and finally top division bowls before coming to Adelaide.  His nickname came from being the smallest of his family at birth and his parents not wanting him to consider himself inferior.  It stuck with him throughout his life.

Known for his keen sense of humor and friendly approach, “Big” could always be called upon to give complimentary advise in the best way possible.

A good sport, he played in the the Club’s Fourth Division Premiership team in 2014-15 and missed playing the following year through illness.  A fall stopped him from playing but was a welcome sight watching our games throughout the season.

The Club extends its condolences to Carolyne, Barry and family.
