QUBE LOGISTICS GALA DAY BRILLIANT

Yesterday (Monday 8th March 2021) saw fifty-six bowlers from various local and metropolitan clubs play in mid conditions at the Qube Logistics Gala Day.  Prize money of $2000 was kindly provided by our long-standing sponsor, Qube Logistics.  Also included were wines from Sidewood Wines Estate which added to the occasion.

Games of 2 x 12 ends for fours and 2 x 8 ends of three bowls pairs saw the team from Victor Harbour BC of Ken Mableson, Ken Waller, Brenton Speed, and our own Roger Mableson, take out the major prize.  Ken Mableson, Roger’s brother, told the audience it was the first time they had played together and looked forward to many more.  The mixed team from Oakbank and Gumeracha were second with the Blackwood rink third.

Early morning “toasties” were provided before the games followed by lunch consisting of meatballs, pasta, and salads, with tiramisu, strawberries, and icecream and completed with afternoon tea of cheese, condiments, and biscuits. During the lunches, twelve lucky bowlers received a shopping bag full of handouts from Qube Logistics as spot prizes.

We sincerely thank Qube Logistics for their generosity in making this day possible and such a success.

The winning rink of (L-R): Brenton Speed, Roger Mableson, Ken Waller and Ken Mableson with Club President, Chris Button.
