Disappointing losses!!

What was expected to be comfortable wins for our Top and Second  division teams turned into two losses to the bottom side.
Division One
Phil Nagel’s rink had a close tussle all day with the Mt Pleasant rink fighting back to be within striking distance with one end to play.  A one shot score on the last end enabled our team to win by 4 shots.
Bill Fairley’s rink were down at the break and nothing seemed to be going their way.  However they fought back and with scores level at the twentieth end went on to win by eight shots.
Christine Keller’s rink opened up a handy lead before the break but the Mt Pleasant team rallied and won the last nine ends to win by thirteen shots.
They now sit in third position and play Gumeracha at Gumeracha next week.
Division Two
Scott Brook’s rink saw the lead change four times throughout the day with them leading 17-13 at he 20th end then down 17-20 at the 23rd.  They rose to the occasion and scored a 4 and a 2 on the last two ends to get home by three shots.
Carolyne Edwardes’s rink struggled early and were down 1-10 after nine ends.  Improved bowling saw the scores level after 22 ends and again on the 24th.  Two shots on the last end saw the team seal the win.
Michael Wheal’s rink opened a lead early and lead 7-3 after fifth end and were still in front 8-7 at the 10th.  After that the opposition scored 22 shots to 8 sealing a win for the Mt Peasant team.
The team now sits in  third position and meets Gumeracha who is just one win behind.
Division Four
The brightest result for the weekend was the easy win over a weakened Woodside team. Down two players “Big” played for Woodside and by all reports was their best player.
Ron Bateman’s rink had an easy win as their opposition were down to three players (including Big) and were never troubled.  All members of the team played well with Ken in “best form” for many games.
Brian Buckingham’s rink had a closer match being down early 2-7 after seven ends.  Thirteen shots in the next four ends gave them the lead and they held that lead throughout the rest of the match.
They maintained their top position and lead the completion by four wins.
